What are the steps and procedures for building a standby Exchange 2003 server? I need to know how to test Exchange disaster recovery. I am also looking for the fastest way to recover a server in the event that there is a problem with our main Exchange server.

You'll want to follow the instructions for restoring a mailbox from backup to an Exchange recovery server (method 3) in the Microsoft article "How to recover or to restore a single mailbox in Exchange Server 2003."

Alternatively, you may want to search your favorite Internet search engine for "Exchange recovery." There are some third-party tools on the market that permit recovery in both these scenarios without the need for a recovery environment.
